BYD’s ultra-luxury Yangwang brand appears to be working on a new flagship sedan, and it’s going to be huge.
A heavily camouflaged prototype has been spotted testing in China, with reports suggesting a length of around 5.4–5.5 meters — putting it in roughly the same size territory as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
Interestingly, it doesn’t look like a larger U7. The prototype has a much more formal, boxy design, with an upright front and rear, strong shoulder lines and proportions clearly aimed at the chauffeur-driven luxury sedan market.
Another spy shot reveals one of its most unusual features: rear-hinged coach doors.
Technical details are still unknown, but Yangwang has previously said it wants each model to have its own character and debut advanced technologies.
Looks like BYD is preparing something much more traditional and imposing than the U7 this time. Rolls-Royce and Maybach territory?
