Dacia’s tiny Hipster EV could actually make it into production.

According to Autocar, the three-meter-long microcar is now planned for 2027 production in China, with a targeted UK starting price of around £9,500. Dacia itself hasn’t officially confirmed production yet.

The Hipster is being developed as a low-cost urban EV, with both two-seat L6 and four-seat L7e versions reportedly under consideration. The L7e version would be limited to 20 hp and 56 mph (90 km/h).

Production is expected to use the Chinese factory that previously built the first-generation Dacia Spring, with some Spring components potentially reused to keep costs down. Sources suggest a battery capacity of around 15 kWh.

At roughly 3.0 meters long, the production model should stay surprisingly close to the original Hipster concept, although details including the bumpers, lights and rear door are being revised.

If Dacia really gets this to market for under £10k, it could become one of Europe’s cheapest new EVs.
