Genesis is moving into electrification, and the brand’s first hybrid models are starting to appear in public.

Recently, an undisguised G80 Hybrid was spotted on the street by Healer TV, displaying a sticker reading “RG3 HEV.” RG3 refers to the third-generation G80, while HEV indicates a hybrid electric vehicle.

It appears Genesis is quietly testing both the GV80 Hybrid and G80 Hybrid without camouflage ahead of their official launches.

The Genesis G80 sedan, spotted undergoing testing in California, appears to be undergoing a significant update or possibly introducing a new, high-end trim level.

The vehicle features a redesigned grille and mesh pattern, revised lower fascia, and a mysterious rear concealed by heavy camouflage.

The presence of two-tone paint and 20-inch wheels similar to the Sport Prestige models suggests a move towards increased luxury.

Despite the early timing since the last update, the changes, including a protective film on the door pillars, indicate a substantial refresh or a new top-tier variant in the works, potentially slated for a 2027 release.

## Genesis G80 Hybrid in Testing Ahead of Launch

Genesis is actively testing a hybrid version of its G80 sedan, spotted on a frozen Swedish lake, marking a strategic shift from its earlier all-EV focus to include hybrids for broader market appeal.

Genesis G80 facelift prototype spotted again, and this one is showing a lot more than previous test cars.

The front end appears to get a revised grille with a more open mesh pattern, larger lower bumper intakes, and updated trim details. The rear seems to have bigger changes, including redesigned taillights and what could be a new trunk lid or integrated spoiler.

What’s even more interesting is that this is likely the upcoming G80 Hybrid. Reports suggest it could use Hyundai Group’s new TMED-II hybrid system, pairing a 2.5T engine with a dual-motor setup producing around 329 hp.

Considering the current G80 already received a facelift for 2024, Genesis extending its lifecycle again strongly suggests the hybrid model will remain on sale for several years before a full redesign arrives.
