The 2027 Bayon has been spotted during hot-weather testing in southern Europe. Despite the heavy camouflage, the prototype suggests Hyundai is moving away from the current car’s somewhat unusual styling and giving the small crossover a look more closely related to the Kona.
It’s also expected to grow. The current Bayon is about 4.18 meters (164.6 inches) long, while the next generation should gain a few centimeters, potentially improving both rear-seat space and cargo capacity.
The bigger news, though, could be under the hood.
Gasoline engines are expected to remain, along with the return of a 48V mild-hybrid system. More importantly, reports suggest Hyundai is preparing the first full-hybrid Bayon.
That would put it directly into Toyota Yaris Cross territory and give Hyundai a proper hybrid option below the Kona in Europe.
The Bayon has always been one of Hyundai’s more affordable and practical European crossovers. Making it larger and adding a full hybrid could make the second generation a much more serious B-SUV contender.

Hyundai is giving the next-gen Bayon a major overhaul.
New spy shots reveal a redesigned cabin with dual digital screens, a new climate-control panel, and an updated center console. The small SUV is also expected to grow slightly, adding more passenger and cargo space.
An N Line version is coming too, with sportier wheels and dual exhaust tips.
The big news is under the hood: the 2027 Bayon is expected to offer 48V mild-hybrid and full-hybrid powertrains.
A debut is expected in early 2027.
