2027 Hyundai Kona (SX3)

Render

Hyundai’s next-generation Kona is taking shape, and new renders based on recent spy shots suggest a much bolder design. The third-generation compact SUV is expected to adopt a more boxy, upright look, borrowing styling cues from the latest Santa Fe and Hyundai’s Ioniq EV lineup.

The front end retains Kona’s signature split-headlight layout, with a full-width LED light bar above and the main headlights integrated into the bumper. The new model also appears larger than the current Kona, with a flatter roofline, stronger body creases, conventional pull-type door handles, and a floating roof effect created by partially blacked-out rear pillars.

While the rear design remains hidden under camouflage, prototypes reveal high-mounted taillights and a lower-positioned license plate recess. The SUV is also expected to ride on newly designed alloy wheels and feature a more rugged overall stance.

Under the hood, the next Kona is expected to continue offering a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, a 1.6-liter turbo, a hybrid based on the 1.6T, and an all-electric Kona Electric. The current EV offers up to 218 hp and 490 km (WLTP) of range, and the new generation is expected to build on that formula.

Hyundai is expected to officially unveil the new Kona within the next few months.
