# 2027 Peugeot E-208

Next-gen Peugeot E-208 spotted testing with a rectangular steering wheel

Peugeot’s next E-208 has moved beyond test mules, with a heavily camouflaged prototype now spotted on the road. The third-gen model is reportedly going electric-only, but the current gas-powered 208 will get another facelift and stay on sale alongside it.

The exterior is still pretty well hidden. You can make out the familiar small-hatch proportions, though the report says Peugeot is changing the lighting signature and moving toward the design language seen on the updated 308.

The interior is where things get interesting. This prototype apparently has the tiny, rectangular steering wheel previously seen in test mules, taking cues from the Polygon concept. Its appearance in another test car suggests Peugeot is serious about putting it into production, although there’s no word on whether a conventional wheel will also be available.

Peugeot already likes small steering wheels, but this would take that idea quite a bit further. I’d want to try it before deciding whether it’s clever or just awkward.

Battery options are reportedly a mix of LFP and NMC, with capacities ranging from 37 to 82 kWh. That upper figure seems unusually large for a hatch this size, so I’d treat it as unconfirmed for now. The biggest pack is said to deliver well over 500 km, or 310 miles, on the WLTP cycle.

The reported timeline is a reveal before the end of 2026, followed by European deliveries in summer 2027. A Paris Motor Show debut has been floated, but Peugeot hasn’t confirmed it. Production is expected to remain at Stellantis’ Zaragoza plant in Spain, alongside the Opel Corsa and Lancia Ypsilon.

Keeping the existing gas car around while launching a separate electric generation seems like a practical move. Still, the steering wheel might end up getting more attention than anything under the camouflage.
