Ferrari Engineers at Maranello have been working on a more powerful version of this model, similar to the 812 Competizione. In these photos from earlier this week, we can see that Ferrari is working on the aerodynamics with small side skirts at the front, a large rear wing, as well as a new splitter and modified exhausts. A new project therefore appears to be well underway!
Ferrari has been spotted testing what appears to be the most hardcore version of the 12 Cilindri yet. Expected to debut in 2027, the new model is set to follow the legacy of the F12 tdf and 812 Competizione, with major upgrades to its aerodynamics, chassis, and possibly even the legendary 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12.
Although the standard 12 Cilindri already produces 819 hp—matching the 812 Competizione—Ferrari has a history of squeezing even more performance from its special-series cars. Whether output increases or not, the focus is expected to be on sharper handling, higher downforce, and improved track capability.
The prototype features several noticeable changes, including large front canards, a redesigned front fascia, and a massive ducktail rear spoiler. Previous test cars have also hinted at active aerodynamic elements, suggesting Ferrari is aiming for significantly greater aerodynamic performance than the standard model.
The biggest mystery is its name. Ferrari could revive the iconic GTO badge for the first time since the 599 GTO, or it may adopt a different designation. Either way, this is shaping up to be the ultimate front-engined V12 Ferrari of the current generation.
