The upcoming 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA electric variant has been spied with less camouflage

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to unveil the next-generation CLA compact sedan, with new images and spy photos hinting at significant design changes and technological advancements, including hybrid and electric powertrain options.

The vehicle is expected to feature a new front end, inspired by the brand’s recent concept, with distinctive LED lighting that incorporates the Mercedes-Benz logo.

The CLA will be the first model to utilize the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), designed for compact luxury vehicles.

Powertrain options will include both traditional internal combustion engines with hybrid variants and fully electric configurations, the latter equipped with an 800-volt architecture and energy-efficient motors paired with a novel two-speed transmission.

The exterior design will see the addition of new features such as frameless doors, pop-out door handles, and redesigned taillights, while maintaining the model’s characteristic proportions.

The new CLA is poised to offer a range of drivetrain configurations, from front-wheel drive to all-wheel drive, catering to a diverse market of luxury compact car enthusiasts.

The upcoming Mercedes CLA electric vehicle is poised to make a significant impact with its performance and efficiency metrics.

Boasting a battery capacity of up to 85 kWh and a goal of achieving more than 750 km of range, the CLA also targets high-speed DC charging at up to 300 kW.

The prototype, which has been tested, showcases a silent drive, one-pedal operation, and a two-speed gearbox integrated into the rear axle’s electric motor.

Despite not being the roomiest in the rear, the CLA offers a spacious front cabin and a frunk, a first for Mercedes in nearly a century.

With an expected price tag above €50,000, the CLA carries the weight of Mercedes’ electric aspirations, aiming to outshine new competitors and restore the brand’s luster in the EV segment.
