The coming years will see a strong wind of innovation at Mini. The brand comes with a completely new Countryman. The third-generation Countryman will be larger than the current model, will include an electric powertrain and can be seen up close on these spy plates.

The new Countryman rides on the FAAR platform like the new X1. This S grade reportedly shares a powertrain with the M35i grade of the BMW. This should mean there’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 302 horsepower (225 kilowatts) and 450 pound-feet (332 Newton-meters) of torque.
There’s also a rumored plug-in hybrid variant. It would use a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with electrical assistance making a total of 322 hp (237 kW). All-wheel drive would be the only layout, and the system would offer an estimated 55 miles (88 kilometers) of electric range.

A third generation Countryman that is at a very early stage of development in that it does not have any of the production headlamps, front or rear , although we do know that it will be heavily influenced by the Urbanaut concept, with pillars from the more vertical windshield and with the side windows perfectly integrated into the characteristic shoulders of the MINI models.
A special detail is that of the door handles which, like the BMW models, have now been recessed into the door panels , creating a much cleaner design. Inside, a true revolution is expected, even at the level of space, since a very generous increase in length is expected, which will reach almost 200 millimeters . This means that the new model will be much more compact, growing up to 4.5 meters, increasing habitability.
The new MINI Countryman shares the same FAAR We platform with the new X1 and Series 2 Active Tourers, so it will have a range of traditional combustion, plug-in hybrid and electric versions. An offer that will include gasoline and diesel options and the premiere of an electric , whose technology will be the same as the future BMW iX1 that we have already seen in tests.

Spy photos show the next-generation Mini Countryman in winter testing. The hatchback is still covered in camouflage, concealing its actual shape. However, we don’t expect the car to stray far from the brand’s current design ethos. It’s been in development for over a year.
The new Countryman could share some powertrains with the new BMW X1. The plug-in hybrid version could offer as much as 322 hp (237 kW) with all-wheel drive. The car should go on sale in 2023 for the US market for the 2024 model year.
2024 MINI Countryman JCW spy photos.
These new spy photos reveal larger proportions, growing to a staggering 4.43 meters in length .
The new model will give more cargo room in the trunk because the wheelbase will be the same as the model that is currently on the market and the rise in this level is located in the wider rear overhang that has obviously increased in size. Due to the fact that this particular version is the Countryman JCW, the fixed rear glass behind the rear doors is also larger and considerably more useful than before.
The main distinguishing features of this version with the exclusive John Cooper Works mark are the alloy wheels, the front bumper full of air intakes, the brake calipers painted red, and the two chrome exhausts

New spy photos reveal the redesigned Mini Countryman with a familiar yet refined design, featuring blocky headlights, a corralled grille, and sharper edges.
The Countryman is larger and taller than its predecessor, riding on the FAAR platform.
Mini plans to launch a John Cooper Works variant with a 64.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack for 280 miles of range.
Mini is expected to offer a 1.5-liter three-cylinder and 2.0-liter four-cylinder Countryman with a mild-hybrid assist system, with the model expected to be on sale by the end of the year.
