Audi will add a new all-electric crossover to its lineup next year called the Q6 E-Tron. It’ll slot between the upcoming Q4 E-Tron and the larger E-Tron SUV while sharing its platform with the all-electric Porsche Macan that’s also in development. We last spotted Audi testing the Q6 E-Tron in March, and a new batch of spy photos shows that development is ongoing, but little has changed.
The crossover continues to wear tight-fitting camouflage that’s unable to hide the traditional-looking shape. The lower bumper grille still looks as naked as it did it before, and stand-in taillights remain in place at the rear. A strip of gray sheet metal is visible on the fenders, an odd area to leave uncovered. We expect the crossover to adapt the styling of the larger E-Tron onto the smaller vehicle, with a wide grille, slim headlights, and angular accents.
The standard Q6 E-Tron is expected to arrive towards the end of this year or during the first half of 2023. The RS version shouldn’t be delayed, which means it could arrive just a few months later. In the worst-case scenario, the debut could be postponed to early 2024.
Audi’s Q6 e-tron will be an all-electric SUV that shares its underpinnings with the upcoming Porsche Macan EV. Spies have caught Audi’s next SUV with an undisguised front end leaving little to the imagination. Using this as a base, our illustrator has created a rendering of the production model.
The Q6 e-tron will feature split headlights, matrix LED graphics and a sloping roofline. A high performance RS variant with an even sportier bodykit will join the range at a later date. Besides the traditional SUV bodystyle, Audi will also launch the Q6 Sportback coupe-SUV.
The Audi Q6 e-tron will ride on the more sophisticated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) underpinnings. The PPE is compatible with single (RWD) or dual electric motors (AWD), and a battery with a capacity of up to 100 kWh.
Audi could use the same setup for the performance flagship of the Q6 e-tron range bearing the RS badge. Porsche Macan EV will produce up to 603 hp (450 kW / 611 PS) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft).
The Q6 E-Tron features a design with split headlights and a trapezoidal opening in the lower fascia. The swirly camouflage hides the styling details, but the rest of the nose appears to have a smooth shape.
Audi is actively extending its lineup of electric-powered vehicles, and two weeks ago it released official images of the newest addition, the Q6 e-tron crossover. Although the prototype shown on them is still covered by a masking film, you can already make out all the key elements of the new electric SUV’s exterior.
The car will be built in the present Ingolstadt company style and have a variety of distinguishing features. Of course, the now popular “two-story” head optics can be viewed as such from the front. Running lights will be present in the upper portion, made of pixels with a distinctive pattern.
The premiere of new items will take place during this year.
