The plug-in hybrid prototype looks production-ready.
The new headlights, which look to be thinner than the old ones, are not being concealed by VW. These new headlights, which are presumably the fully adaptable arrangement, are available for the current Golf along with basic and matrix LED headlights. A prototype of the plug-in hybrid eHybrid, which sits below the GTE electric hot hatch, has them installed. The lower intake’s vertical slats and the region around them make it very obvious that the front bumper has been modified.
To hide the new LED graphics, stickers have been put to the taillights at the back. The taillight appears to be the same design as previously, but alas the hideous faux exhaust points remain. As a PHEV, there is a charging port on the front fender on the driver’s side, and as this is simply a mid-cycle update, the side profile is essentially intact.
