Genesis is developing an F-segment super-large SUV that exists on the GV80. Competitors are flagship SUVs of each brand, including Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, and Cadillac Escalade. The main markets for these super-large SUVs are the United States and China. For Genesis, it is a necessary segment to expand its brand area. As a result, Genesis plans to form a full lineup of SUVs from GV60 to GV90.
The GV90 will appear as an electric vehicle. It is a good strategy for latecomers. It is being developed based on Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicle-only E-GMP platform, and is expected to be released between 2024 and 2025.
No specific specific specifications were revealed, but one interesting piece of information came out about design. Genesis is developing the second row door of the GV90 in the form of a “coach door.” With a similar design to Rolls-Royce, the rear door hinge is attached to the back. This design was applied when Kia announced the concept of telluride, but it was omitted from the mass production model.
I’m going to add a picture of the test car at the beginning of development.
It’s a GV90 test mule that’s hidden by the palisade look.
If you look closely, the body is much longer than the palisade. And considering that the left gas port cover has been removed, it seems to be testing the electric powertrain.
While details about the production model are scarce, the concept car offers tantalizing clues. Here’s what we can expect from the Genesis GV90, based on the Neolun:
Full-Size Luxury SUV: The GV90 will likely retain the Neolun’s imposing presence on the road.
Two-Tone Exterior Design: The striking color combination might make it to production, but other options are also a possibility.
Spacious and Luxurious Interior: Expect premium materials and ample space for passengers and cargo.
Swiveling Front Seats (Possibly): This innovative feature might be a highlight of the production GV90.
Retractable Panoramic Roof (Possibly): Adding to the airy feel of the cabin.
Large Infotainment Screen (Possibly): A prominent touchscreen will likely be the centerpiece of the GV90’s infotainment system.
The Neolun has captured the imagination of automobile artists worldwide. While official production images are unavailable this speculative rendering by SRK Designs depicts the GV90 offering a glimpse of what the final product might look like.
I can’t be completely sure as this is the only photo, but I’m guessing it’s the GV90 for a few reasons: the taillight design reminded me of the Genesis’s signature two-line lamps, and even though it was camouflaged, its size seemed different from the GV80.
Considering various factors, I inferred it was the GV90. The wheels were missing their center caps, but they had a distinctive Genesis feel. As you can see in the photo, the overall shape was round, similar to a concept car.
