Great Wall Motor’s Tank 300 SUV Spied with Significant Interior Updates
The Tank 300, Great Wall Motor’s rugged SUV that debuted under the Wey brand in 2020, has been spotted sporting a mid-cycle refresh. While the exterior changes appear minimal, the interior is set for a substantial overhaul.
Interior Revamp The most notable change is the infotainment system. The current model features an integrated dual 12.3-inch screen setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment display. The facelifted version, however, adopts a larger, freestanding touchscreen that rises from the dashboard, aligning the Tank 300 more closely with its stablemates.
The center console layout remains largely familiar, but with one significant alteration: the drive selector has migrated from the console to a column-mounted stalk. The steering wheel has also been redesigned, now featuring a two-spoke, flat-bottomed design with simplified controls. Two scroll wheels replace the current model’s more complex button arrangement.
Despite these changes, much of the interior retains its original character, including the air vents and door panel designs.
Exterior Updates Spy shots reveal camouflage on the front and rear doors, though visible changes appear minimal at this stage.
Powertrain Options The Tank 300’s engine lineup is expected to carry over unchanged:
- 2.0T: 167 kW (224 hp) and 387 Nm (285 lb-ft) of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic
- 3.0T V6: 265 kW (355 hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, featuring a 48V mild-hybrid system and 9-speed automatic
PHEV Version The refreshed styling should also make its way to the Tank 300 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid variant. This model combines a 2.0T engine (185 kW / 248 hp, 385 Nm / 284 lb-ft) with a 120 kW (161 hp) front-mounted electric motor. Total system output is an impressive 300 kW (402 hp) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. A 37.1 kWh battery pack provides up to 105 km (65 miles) of all-electric range on the WLTC cycle.
Dimensions and Pricing Both ICE and PHEV versions of the Tank 300 measure 4760 mm (187.4 in) long, 1930 mm (76.0 in) wide, and 1903 mm (74.9 in) tall, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm (108.3 in).
Current Tank 300 pricing ranges from 199,800 to 330,000 yuan ($27,850 - $46,000), while the Hi4-T PHEV starts at 269,800 yuan ($37,600). Expect the facelifted models to maintain similar pricing when they hit the market, likely by the end of this year.
