The production version of the Jeep Recon, an electric off-roader, has been caught on camera during testing, showing a strong resemblance to the concept version presented in 2022.
This midsize SUV is constructed on Stellantis’ STLA Large modular platform and is slated to be an electric counterpart to the Jeep Wrangler.
Although initially planned for a 2024 release, the Recon’s launch is now anticipated in 2025.
The vehicle retains signature design elements from the concept, such as brightly colored tow hooks and Nexen Roadian ATX tires, while the removable rear-most side windows seem to have been replaced with fixed glass in the production model.
The Recon is set to include Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management, an e-locker axle, under-body protection, removable doors, and a power top for an open-air driving experience.
Its powertrain is expected to be similar to the Wagoneer S EV, with a dual-motor setup producing around 600 horsepower and a 100-kwh battery.
Production is rumored to take place in a North American plant, potentially the same one that manufactures the Wagoneer S. Jeep is expanding its electric lineup, with the Recon being a key player in the brand’s commitment to offering an electric option across all SUV segments.
