2026 BMW M2 Racing Car

BMW is developing a new race car positioned as a stepping stone to the M4 GT4 EVO. First teased in August 2024 and later showcased with a vivid wrap in October, this new model is scheduled to begin racing in the 2026 season.

This yet-to-be-named race car, succeeding the M2 CS Racing (€95,000), is expected to be priced in the six-figure range, positioned below the M4 GT4 EVO (€219,900). The prototype, tested by FK Performance Motorsport’s Max Hesse and Jens Klingmann, successfully completed a four-hour endurance run at the Nurburgring.

The development vehicle is believed to preview the upcoming BMW M2 CS, rather than just being a lightweight M2. The engine, producing 523 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, will be paired exclusively with an automatic transmission due to its high torque output. The car features M-specific quad tailpipes, a roll cage, lightweight racing seats, motorsport-spec harness, Alcantara steering wheel, and carbon-fiber center console.

Production is set to begin in August 2025 at BMW’s San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico and will continue until June 2029. BMW plans to officially unveil the car in late 2025, giving customer teams adequate preparation time for the 2026 racing season.
