Undisguised images of BYD’s upcoming flagship SUV, the Tang 9, have been leaked, revealing a vehicle that adopts the brand’s latest design language and boasts a quick acceleration of 4.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.
The SUV features a striking through-type LED daytime running light and vertical headlamps, with a connected taillight design at the rear.
The presence of badges indicating “4.9S” and “Great Tang” suggests that the Tang 9 is built on the advanced BYD Super e-platform, which supports megawatt flash charging and is equipped with a high-speed motor capable of 30,000 rpm.
The vehicle is expected to be larger than current Tang models, with a length exceeding 5.2 meters and a wheelbase over 3.1 meters, positioning it in the full-size SUV market segment.
It is anticipated to use a three-motor layout, producing over 500 kW, and is the first BYD model to feature rear-wheel steering technology.
The Tang 9 Series, along with the Han 9 Series, was officially announced at BYD’s Dynasty Festival event, with a public naming campaign underway and an official launch slated for the first half of the year.
