2026 Hyundai i20 mk4

New spy shots captured by ShortsCar showed a camouflaged prototype that bears a striking resemblance to the next-generation Hyundai i20 but with an intriguing twist. The seats inside the prototype clearly display the i20 logo, yet speculation is growing that this may not be a traditional internal combustion model at all.

Hyundai is preparing to introduce the fourth generation of its i20 model by 2027, maintaining its position in the affordable car segment, rivaling models like the MG3 and Dacia Sandero.

Despite rumors of a fully electric transition, the South Korean manufacturer has decided to keep offering traditional combustion engines, recognizing the ongoing demand for such powertrains in markets like Europe.

The new i20 will also be available with varying degrees of electrification, building upon the current model’s 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

Spy photos have revealed the vehicle undergoing testing in Europe, showcasing a design influenced by Hyundai’s latest design language, and suggesting a potential market release in the second half of 2026 as a 2027 model year vehicle.

The Hyundai HB20, a popular hatchback in Brazil, is set to undergo a significant transformation, shifting from its traditional hatchback design to a crossover SUV format.

This strategic move positions the model to compete with subcompact SUVs such as the Volkswagen Tera, Renault Kardian, and Honda WR-V, catering to the increasing consumer preference for SUVs.

The new HB20 is anticipated to feature a taller body, a more robust design, and an updated interior with advanced digital features and enhanced driver assistance systems.

While the exterior and interior will see substantial updates, the powertrain options are likely to remain similar, with the 1.0 naturally aspirated and 1.0 turbo flex engines carrying over from the current model. There is also speculation about a future mild-hybrid (MHEV) version.

The current hatchback version may continue for specific market segments, while the HB20S sedan variant is expected to be discontinued.
