Kia is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India with the introduction of the Syros EV, a compact SUV designed to offer a balance between cost efficiency and electric-specific features.
The Syros EV is expected to share many design elements and parts with its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, while incorporating unique EV details such as aerodynamic alloy wheels and EV badging.
It is anticipated to borrow its powertrain from the Hyundai Inster EV, potentially offering a choice between 42-kWh and 49-kWh NMC battery packs, with the latter promising a range of 370 km.
The Syros EV will feature fast charging capabilities and is poised to compete in a market segment that includes the Tata Punch EV, Tata Nexon EV, and XUV300 EV, with an expected price range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. Safety is a key focus, with the ICE Syros having achieved a 5-star BNCAP safety rating, and the EV version is expected to maintain this standard.
