2026 Mercedes-Benz V-Class

Mercedes-Benz is currently developing the next-generation V-Class/Vito van. The recently revealed spy photos show a test vehicle in the mule stage, retaining most of the existing body while incorporating a few changes.

Key changes:

  1. Completely new front-end design - flatter nose
  2. Changed taillight design
  3. Relocated license plate - moved to the upper part of the tailgate
  4. Widened wheel arches, suggesting a new platform
  5. Closed-off grille and lack of exhaust pipes - possibility of an electric powertrain

The interior will feature a new dashboard, center console, gear shifter, steering wheel, door trims, etc., along with the latest technology and semi-autonomous driving systems. The German automaker will likely equip it with leather upholstery in higher specifications.

The next-generation V-Class/Vito is not expected to launch before the second half of 2025, and it will likely be available in the United States for the 2026 model year.

Mercedes-Benz VLE: Future Electric Grand Limousine Proves Long-Distance Capability

Stuttgart to Rome. 1,090 kilometers. Two brief charging stops. Zero compromise on comfort.

Mercedes-Benz has successfully tested its upcoming all-electric luxury van, the VLE, on a demanding long-distance route from Stuttgart to Rome. This real-world trial, spanning the Alps and various challenging road types, served to validate the vehicle’s daily usability and efficiency.

Real-World Efficiency Under Tough Conditions

  • Total Distance: 1,090 km
  • Driving Time: Approximately 13 hours
  • Charging Stops: Only two, each lasting 15 minutes
  • Outside Temperatures: 11°C (Stuttgart) to 33°C (Rome)
  • Cabin Climate: Maintained at 22°C throughout the journey

Despite the varied and demanding terrain—including mountain passes, highways, and narrow city streets—the VLE completed the trip effortlessly, showcasing its long-range capability and energy-efficient performance, even with continuous air conditioning in use.

Rear-Axle Steering: Agility Meets Comfort

A standout feature during the test was the rear-axle steering, which provided enhanced maneuverability in tight corners and narrow urban roads. This technology makes the VLE exceptionally agile and user-friendly for everyday driving, particularly in city environments and on winding mountain roads.

Maturity Testing: Real-World Development Validation

The Stuttgart–Rome journey is part of a comprehensive vehicle development program that includes:

  • Digital simulations
  • In-house testing at Mercedes-Benz Vans development campus
  • Real-world testing in extreme conditions

Past tests have included:

  • Cold-weather trials in Sweden (Winter 2025)
  • Expedition from Stuttgart to North Cape, Norway

Such rigorous testing accelerates product readiness and ensures the vehicle meets production standards.

Modular Electric Van Architecture Launching in 2026

From 2026, Mercedes-Benz will debut its next-generation electric van platform, designed to be both modular and scalable. This architecture enables clear separation between:

  • Private luxury models (Grand Limousines)
