2027 BMW M5

The 2027 BMW M5 Facelift has been spotted undergoing testing, showcasing a major departure from the current model’s design.

The front fascia adopts a new look, with headlights and a kidney grille inspired by the Vision Neue Klasse sedan, alongside an aggressive bumper with prominent air intakes.

The rear remains partially concealed, but slimmer taillights and a more streamlined bumper design are anticipated. Despite the exterior updates, the powertrain is expected to retain its plug-in hybrid setup with at least 717 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, potentially benefiting from a more efficient battery pack.

The interior is likely to be redesigned, incorporating BMW’s Panoramic iDrive display and the latest steering wheel design, as previewed at CES 2025.

This facelift suggests that a similar update will soon follow for the G60/G61 5 Series models.

The G9X generation BMW M5 is set to receive a mid-cycle refresh, with spy shots revealing a new look that aligns with the Neue Klasse design language.

The facelift, expected to arrive in late 2027, will feature a more streamlined front end with horizontal kidney grilles and integrated headlights, diverging from the current model’s design.

The rear will see more subtle changes, maintaining the slender horizontal rear light units. Powertrain-wise, the M5 will likely retain its twin-turbocharged V8 and electric motor combination, with a slight increase in output from the current 717bhp and 738lb ft.

Advances in battery technology may lead to a reduction in weight or an extension of the electric range.

The interior is anticipated to adopt BMW’s new panoramic vision system and an updated infotainment system, as part of the Neue Klasse updates.
