Chevrolet is reinventing its High Country treatment, and the three-row Traverse gets it first with new trim, real wood, 22-inch wheels, and some genuinely useful family-focused tech.
Chevrolet’s High Country badge has long represented the fancy end of the brand’s truck and SUV spectrum. For 2027, Chevy is giving that identity a makeover, and the Traverse will be the first model to wear it.
The 2027 Chevrolet Traverse High Country introduces a more contemporary interpretation of the trim before similar design cues spread to the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500. The formula doesn’t radically change what the Traverse is, but it adds enough visual and interior differentiation to make the High Country feel more distinct from lesser trims.
And for families, arguably the more interesting upgrades involve cameras rather than chrome.
High Country Gets a New Look
Outside, the 2027 Traverse High Country receives redesigned High Country badges on the front doors and liftgate, along with a new Tritan Satin finish for the grille and headlight accents.
The biggest visual change comes lower down. New 22-inch aluminum wheels combine a high-gloss black finish with machined faces, giving the Traverse a more aggressive stance than you might expect from Chevrolet’s luxury-oriented trim.
Chevy describes the new High Country design language as more “modern, athletic and contemporary,” and this treatment will eventually become a recognizable theme across multiple models rather than remaining specific to the Traverse.
Inside, the changes are more substantial. Jet Black seats are paired with Natural Tan accents, while the seatbelts receive Natural Tan edging. Chevrolet also adds debossed front headrests and, importantly for something carrying a premium badge, real wood trim.
Now You Can See What the Kids Are Doing Back There
The 2027 Traverse also picks up some technology that makes particular sense in a three-row family SUV.
An interior camera becomes available across the Traverse lineup and comes standard on High Country and RS models. Its Cabin Glance feature displays a live view of the second and third rows on the center touchscreen.
That means parents can check on kids, pets, or other passengers without repeatedly turning around—a simple idea, but potentially one of the more useful additions Chevrolet could make to a vehicle designed around carrying families.
The exterior cameras gain new tricks, too.
Surround Vision Recorder can capture and save footage from the vehicle’s cameras while the Traverse is running. Security Recording can automatically begin recording if the vehicle alarm is triggered. Owners need to plug in a USB drive to store and retrieve the footage.
In other words, some of the cameras already surrounding modern vehicles are finally being put to work for something beyond parking assistance.
The Mechanical Package Stays Familiar
There’s no corresponding powertrain overhaul for 2027. The Traverse High Country continues with Chevrolet’s turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque.
Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, while maximum cargo volume reaches 98 cubic feet with the second- and third-row seats folded.
The dashboard continues to be dominated by a 17.7-inch center touchscreen, and Chevrolet’s Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance system remains available.
Those numbers reinforce what the current-generation Traverse has become: a big, relatively boxy three-row crossover designed to provide much of the space and road presence buyers associate with Chevrolet’s larger SUVs without actually stepping up to a Tahoe.
That formula appears to be working. Chevrolet says Traverse sales increased 20 percent in the second quarter of 2026, following the model’s best-ever sales year in 2025 and contributing to its strongest first half on record in 2026.
Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Traverse High Country is scheduled to begin in September at GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant in Michigan. The same evolved High Country theme will then move to the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, where Chevrolet is pairing it with a Tritan Satin grille, the Silverado’s first panoramic sunroof, and more than 60 diagonal inches of digital display real estate.
