Kia is considering the release of a rugged SUV based on the Tasman pickup truck, with the possibility of such a vehicle being influenced by the success of the Tasman in the market.
This development comes after a series of teaser campaigns and the October 2024 premiere of the Tasman, which has now entered the market.
The Tasman, with its primary markets in South Korea, Australia, the Middle East, and Africa, has sparked discussions within Kia about diversifying its offerings.
This potential SUV is expected to adopt the Tasman’s rugged design and mechanical features, including a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 281 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 2.2-liter diesbocharged diesel engine with 210 horsepower, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.
The opinions of Kia’s local engineers and a experts suggest that the company is taking a cautious approach, evaluating the Tasman’s market performance before confirming the SUV project.
If the Tasman proves successful, it could pave the way for the SUV’s development, which is anticipated to share the pickup’s aggressive styling and off-road capabilities.
