2027 Leapmotor C16 LWB

Stellantis-backed Leapmotor has revealed a stretched long-wheelbase variant of its C16 SUV through spy shots, signaling an expansion of the company’s lineup with an expected debut alongside a refreshed standard model.

Key Details:

  • The long-wheelbase C16 retains the A, B, and C-pillar designs of the standard model but features a redesigned rear end with improved third-row comfort
  • The standard C16 measures 4,915 mm in length with a 2,825 mm wheelbase; the LWB variant will be stretched to fill a gap between the C16 and the flagship D19 (5,252 mm long)
  • Current C16 pricing ranges from 151,800 to 181,800 yuan ($22,200–$26,600 USD) for EV and extended-range (EREV) powertrains in both 5-seat and 6-seat configurations
  • The refreshed C16 will receive power upgrades: EREV models get a 200 kW rear motor with a 70 kW range extender, while EV trims jump to 230 kW (308 hp)
  • Leapmotor is assessing a launch in Australia, where the LWB variant would likely be offered alongside the standard C16 and D19
  • Leapmotor delivered 57,161 units in April 2026, representing a 102% year-on-year increase, driven by aggressive pricing and product expansion

Why It Matters: The LWB C16 positions Leapmotor to capture mid-market demand in the competitive Chinese EV sector while strengthening its international presence through Stellantis partnerships.
