2027 Nissan Terrano SUV

The production-spec Nissan Terrano has been spotted testing, and it looks surprisingly close to the PHEV concept shown in Beijing earlier this year.

Most of the boxy design carries over, although the concept’s hardcore off-road gear—roof lights, bonnet-mounted lamps, platform rack and chunky tires—is gone for now.

The interesting part is underneath. The Terrano is reportedly a body-on-frame SUV based on the Nissan Frontier Pro/Dongfeng Z9 platform, with Nissan handling much of the chassis, safety and off-road development while Dongfeng supplies the hybrid tech.

China is expected to get the PHEV first in early 2027, while ICE and PHEV versions could eventually reach markets including the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Basically, Nissan might be bringing back the Terrano name as a proper rugged, electrified SUV rather than another crossover.
