Stellantis appears ready to solve one of the biggest weaknesses of its compact electric commercial vans: limited driving range.
Recent spy shots of the upcoming Peugeot E-Partner suggest the next-generation model will receive a much larger 86 kWh NMC battery pack, potentially allowing more than 500 km of WLTP range.
That would represent a major improvement over the current Peugeot E-Partner, which uses a 52 kWh LFP battery pack with 50 kWh of usable capacity and an official WLTP range of 336 km.
The larger battery is expected to dramatically improve usability for delivery drivers, small businesses, and commercial operators who rely on longer daily driving distances.
Stellantis is also reportedly planning a broader battery strategy across its compact van lineup by offering both LFP and NMC battery options depending on trim level and usage needs.
The upgrades are expected to extend across multiple models built on the same platform, including:
- Peugeot Partner
- Citroën Berlingo
- Opel Combo
- FIAT Qubo L
In addition to the increased range, the updated vans are expected to receive efficiency improvements and revised software calibration designed to maximize real-world energy consumption.
The launch is currently anticipated around 2027, well before the end of the decade.
The move is important because compact electric vans have faced growing criticism for their relatively short range compared to diesel alternatives. While existing models work well for urban deliveries, many businesses still consider current battery capacities too restrictive for broader commercial use.
By introducing larger battery options and more flexible configurations, Stellantis appears focused on making its electric commercial vans significantly more practical and competitive as fleet operators gradually transition away from combustion vehicles.
