Toyota is set to introduce an electrified compact truck in South America by 2027, as confirmed to Brazilian dealers.
This vehicle will feature a car-like monocoque structure, a hybrid powertrain, and is expected to be built on an improved TNGA platform, similar to the one used in the Corolla.
The powertrain options will include both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, with an output of 302 hp and an electric-only range of 42 miles from the current RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid’s system.
The compact truck will likely offer an optional 4×4 system and compete with models like the Fiat Toro and Ford Maverick. While there’s no official confirmation for the U.S. market,
Toyota executives have discussed the potential for a compact pickup, considering market demand and the success of the Tacoma.
The U.S. version would likely be tailored to meet local demands and regulations, possibly arriving by 2027-2028 as a rival to the Ford Maverick
