Electric M3 (i3 M?) spotted testing again — 800+ hp now, 1,000+ hp version reportedly coming later
More spy shots of BMW’s electric answer to the M3, and the numbers keep climbing. Four motors, one per wheel, with this version allegedly putting down over 800 hp and around 664 lb-ft combined. For reference, the gas M3 is expected to land around 550 hp — yet both are supposedly priced the same. And apparently there’s an even higher-output variant in the pipeline later, rumored at 1,000+ hp, with some sources even throwing out 1,300 hp for a true flagship.
Worth repeating: this isn’t a “hybrid M3,” it’s a completely separate car built on the Neue Klasse EV platform. Gas M3 keeps the S58 inline-six, no electrification. So BMW is running two totally different M3-ish products side by side rather than one evolving into the other.
Latest prototype had less camo than before — vented hood, aggressive skirts front/rear/sides, chunky fender flares, wider-looking tracks. Style-wise it’s leaning hard into that Neue Klasse look, similar vibe to the M Concept Neue Klasse show car from a few weeks back. Whether people actually want an EV wearing the M3 name at that kind of power level… that’s the real question here. Curious to see if M Division can actually make 800+ hp feel controllable and not just a straight-line missile.
