Ferrari appears to be working on an even more extreme version of the F80.
A heavily camouflaged prototype, believed to be the F80XX or FXX80, was recently caught testing at Portugal’s Portimão circuit with a much more aggressive aero package than the standard car.
The biggest giveaway is the massive swan-neck rear wing, joined by a revised front end with an S-duct hood, larger splitter, dive planes, extended side skirts, and a huge rear diffuser. Everything points to significantly more downforce and a much stronger track focus.
The standard F80 already combines a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with three electric motors for 1,184 hp. The XX version is expected to go even further, potentially pushing total output to around 1,250 hp or more.
Ferrari could extract additional performance from the electric side of the hybrid system rather than dramatically increasing output from the already highly stressed V6.
The prototype also sounds noticeably more aggressive than the regular F80, especially through the midrange and at higher rpm.
One big question remains: will this be a track-only XX Programme car, or a road-legal monster like the SF90 XX Stradale?
Ferrari hasn’t confirmed the name, specs, price, or production numbers yet, but judging by this prototype, the F80’s most extreme version is definitely on the way.
