Mercedes-Benz will launch a fifth-generation A-Class in 2028, retaining its hatchback design while offering both hybrid and electric powertrains, built on the new MMA platform shared with the CLA.
Key Details:
- The new A-Class will keep its traditional hatchback silhouette but feature a raised driving position to accommodate EV floor height, without becoming a crossover.
- It will be built alongside the CLA and GLA in Kecskemét, Hungary, using the versatile Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) for both ICE and EV variants.
- EV models will feature an 800V system with 58kWh or 85kWh battery options, ranging from 221bhp to 349bhp, while ICE versions will use a 1.5L turbocharged engine with outputs from 154bhp to 209bhp.
- Design will evolve rather than reinvent, keeping framed doors and a sloping roofline, with styling cues from the CLA and GLC, and may potentially adopt a new name like “CSA.”
