Ford Bronco gets EREV and BEV variant in China

Ford has officially introduced all-electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions of the Ford Bronco in China, marking a major shift for the rugged SUV nameplate. The new models will be manufactured by Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC)—Ford’s joint venture partner—in Jiangxi Province.

While Ford China has only released a handful of teaser images, official homologation filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal full specifications.

The Bronco EV is a 5-seat, all-wheel-drive SUV measuring 5,025 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,815 mm tall, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase and a curb weight of 2,630 kg. It features a dual-motor setup: 130 kW on the front axle and 202 kW at the rear, delivering a combined 232 kW (311 hp) and a top speed of 170 km/h.

Power comes from a 105.4 kWh LFP blade battery supplied by BYD, offering up to 650 km of CLTC-rated range. Notably, a lidar unit mounted above the windshield points to Ford’s plans for advanced driver assistance features.

In parallel, the Bronco EREV variant pairs electric motors with a 1.5L gasoline engine used solely as a range-extending generator. It features the same front motor, but the rear is slightly detuned to 180 kW. The setup is backed by a 43.7 kWh battery, offering 220 km of electric-only range, and a total range of up to 1,220 km. The EREV version weighs slightly less, at 2,510 kg.

Both variants are expected to launch in China in Q4 2025, though Ford has not yet confirmed whether the electric Bronco will be offered in overseas markets.
